Tropical Depression Salome has slightly intensified as it crosses the Ticao Pass, the state weather bureau PAGASA reported Thursday morning.
In its 11:00 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said the center of the tropical depression was located at 50 kilometers South, Southwest of Juban, Sorsogon and expected to traverse across Sibuyan sea this afternoon.
Packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kilometers per hour, Salome is forecast to move in West Northwest direction at 25 kilometers per hour.
Moving west-northwest at 25 kilometers per hour, Salome is forecast to bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains within its 250-kilometer diameter.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number 1 has been raised over the following areas:
- Metro Manila
- Rizal
- Bataan
- Camarines Norte
- Camarines Sur
- Catanduanes
- Albay
- Sorsogon
- Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands
- Romblon
- Marinduque
- Quezon
- Laguna
- Cavite
- Batangas
- Oriental Mindoro
- Occidental Mindoro
- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
- Samar and Leyte including Biliran
Residents in the said areas, as well as those in the eastern section of Central Luzon, are alerted against possible landslides and flashfloods.
The state weather bureau added that the sea travel is risky over the said areas due to prevailing weather condition.
PAGASA also advised the public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned to take appropriate actions.
