For their outstanding contributions and exemplary performance in sustaining the operations of Katarungang Pambarangay, four Lupong Tagapamayapa in the Calabarzon region were recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office IV-A through its award program—Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives and Award (LTIA).
Emerging as this year’s Outstanding Lupon are from the barangays of Marketview, Lucena City for Highly Urbanized Category; Maharlika City of Imus, Cavite for Component City Category; Cagsiay 1 Mauban, Quezon for First to Third Class Municipality Category; and, Bataan Sampaloc, Quezon for Four to Sixth Class Municipality Category.
They were given a Plaque of Recognition and cash prize amounting to P50, 000.00 each. The cash incentive is expected to be utilized for development projects of the barangay for the implementation of the Katarungang Pambarangay.
Both incentives and awards were conferred by Regional Director Manuel Q. Gotis, CESO III and other key officials of the DILG Regional Office IV-A during the awarding ceremony held on August 5, 2017, in Los Baños Laguna.
Commending this year’s LTIA recipients, Regional Director Gotis said that the annual awards program not just recognized outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa but also served as their means of encouraging other barangays to effectively implement their respective community justice systems.
“Hindi lamang ito nagsisilbing pagkilala sa inyong kahusayan kundi ito rin ay nagsisilbing daan ng aming Departamento na mahikayat ang iba pang barangay na pagbutihin ang pagpapatupad ng Katarungang Pambarangay,” said Regional Director Gotis.
Established in 1997, Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards or LTIA is a means to institutionalize a system of granting economic benefits and other incentives to the Lupon that demonstrates exemplary performance in settling disputes at the grassroots level. —R4A
