MANILA – The Myanmar will be host the Twelfth ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crimes (11th AMMTC) in 2018.
This was bared by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) officer-in-charge Catalino S. Cuy, who is the Philippine government go-to-person in the 11th AMMTC.
The official said the Philippines is honored to host the four-day event as it is taking an active part in the effort to neutralize transnational crimes especially human trafficking.
The event started on Sept 18 and ended on Thursday.
“We take pride in hosting this year’s AMMTC and the ASEAN Summit. We all recognize the magnitude and complexity of combating transnational crimes,” the DILG chief stressed.
Participating ASEAN member states include Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Malysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Brunei.
Cuy said the 11th AMMTC also resulted in the adoption of terms of reference of the AMMTC to facilitate the regular cooperation and coordination in preventing and combating transnational crime in the region.
He said that in closing, the outcomes of the 11th AMMTC and its related meetings showed the manifestation of ASEAN’s common resolve to counter and combat transnational crimes through strength and cooperation. —DILG-PACS
