Officials and functionaries of the City Government of Lucena had the chance to know more about the various programs, projects, and initiatives of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), following the orientation organized by the DILG Lucena City Office on October 6, 2017.

DILG Lucena City Officer-in-Charge (OIC) City Director Vilma B. De Torres said the activity serves as a way of strengthening the promotion of their programs and projects that can contribute to the growth and success of the City Government.

“We don’t want just our presence to be felt, we want our programs to be felt,” the OIC City Director said.

Popularizing the Department’s programs and initiatives, seasoned Local Government Operations Officers from the DILG Regional Office IV-A oriented the participants with the Department’s policies and strategies on the Electronic Business Permit and Licensing System (eBPLS), Local Governance Resource Center (LGRC), Public-Private Partnership for the People (LGU P4), Transition to Federalism advocacy, and the Philippines’ hosting of Association of Southeast Asian Nation Meetings.

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region IV-A was also invited to discuss its flagship advocacy Ambisyon Natin 2040 which represents the collective long-term vision and aspirations of the Filipino people for themselves and for the country in the next 25 years.

As a way of further promoting the said advocacies, booths containing information materials about ASEAN 2017, federalism, and the Ambisyon Natin 2040 were installed inside the conference hall.

DILG Regional Office IV-A OIC-Regional Director Manuel Q. Gotis, and Lucena City Mayor Roderick A. Alcala also graced the said activity. In his message, the regional director emphasized the importance of the Department’s various programs that can spur the city government’s investments and economic growth.

The said activity which brought together department heads, punong barangays and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod was among the interventions set by the DILG Lucena City in bridging the national government programs to the City Government of Lucena. —AJGarcia/R4A
