Quezon province bagged the 2018 Outstanding Local Project Monitoring Committee (Provincial Category) award from the Calabarzon Regional Development Council (RDC) during the 2nd Quarter Full Council Meeting in June.

The recognition aims to identify local project monitoring of the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon and their respective municipalities that have been approved by the RDC guidelines.

The RDC, the highest planning and policy-making body comprised of local government chief executives and members of the private sector in the regional level, serves as counterpart of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) in the economic development planning and policy formulation.

The award also ensures proper utilization of funds and operations of projects that meet the needs of the people in their respective communities.

For Quezon, some of the projects implemented in the province are centered on infrastructure, livelihood, education, health. These are being closely monitored by the Provincial Planning and Development Council (PPDC) along with the Provincial Accounting Office, based on the RDC mandate.

Provincial Planning and Development Officer Maria Odessa Perez and Provincial Accountant Evangeline Ong received the award in behalf of Quezon Governor David C. Suarez in ceremonies at the RDC meeting in mid-June.

“We monitor all projects, programs and activities based on the approved Annual Investment Plan (AIP) where we identify the kind of project and purpose of the activity including the analysis besides implementing it,” Perez said.

She also said that they are continuing their strict monitoring of project implementation besides evaluating if the funds were properly utilized.

She also shared some of the processes that the provincial government has done in relation to project monitoring, namely physical implementation, financial accomplishment, financial utilization, analysis, and impact.

According to Perez, the provincial government’s sustainable development goal serves as a model for monitoring and analyzing the projects.

Quezon received a special award from the RDC Calabarzon last year and this year’s recognition as Outstanding Local Project Monitoring Committee for 2018 is another award it can boast of, she added.

She said the provincial government now aims to sustain its excellent services to Quezonians under the Suarez administration to ensure that these will reach the intended beneficiaries.
