To ensure that Bottom-up Budgeting (BUB) projects are implemented effectively and accordingly, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region IV-A conducted field visits to various project areas in the province of Batangas.

Monitoring team composed of members of the Project Development and Monitoring Unit (PDMU) and the Regional Project Management Team (RPMT) went through the municipalities of Calatagan, San Pascual, and Batangas City, March 29-31, 2017 for an onsite validation and inspection of projects.

Among the projects validated by the team were the Department’s locally-funded projects under BUB such as the construction of core local roads, potable water supply system and evacuation facility.

Physical accomplishments of other BUB projects such as the health facility enhancement program of the Department of Health (DOH); and livelihood training of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) among others were also evaluated by the DILG Region IV-A monitoring team.

Regional Director Manuel Q. Gotis said that the field visit was part of the interventions of the DILG Region IV-A to monitor and evaluate the progress of the implementation of BUB projects in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) Region.

He added that the results of the inspection of the projects can be used by members of the Calabarzon Regional Poverty Reduction Action Team (RPRAT) as their reference for future funding to sustain its purpose.

Communicating BUB in the municipal and barangay level, the monitoring team were also able to gather issues and concerns as well as success stories from the project beneficiaries.

Said monitoring team is set to conduct the same filed visit in Imus City and Bacoor City, Cavite; and in the municipalities of Calauag and Tagkawayan, Quezon this month.

Results of the field visit and inspection will be presented on the second quarterly meeting of the RPRAT scheduled this April.

As of this writing, the Calabarzon RPRAT has already completed at least 80-percent of its 793 projects for 2014; 56-percent of 1,234 projects for 2015 and 10-percent of 1,467 projects in 2016. (FSC/R4A)
