Cognizant to the nationwide campaign against illegal drugs, the DILG Rizal has spearheaded the training on strengthening local Anti-Drug Abuse Councils last September 19 to 21, 2018 at LeBlanc Hotel and Resort in the City of Antipolo.

The three-day activity, conducted in partnership with Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and Rizal Anti-Drug Abuse Office (RADAO), aims to reinforce the functionality and effectiveness of the local ADACs in the fight against drug proliferation in communities.

In his opening remarks, DILG Rizal’s Provincial Director Noel R. Bartolabac, CESO V, emphasized the significance of the ADACs in the fight against criminality brought about by the proliferation of illegal drugs. Dir. Bartolabac also encouraged all the participants to continually improve their programs for this anti-illegal drugs advocacy.

The participants, which includes City/Municipal Local Government Operations Officers, ADAC Focal Persons, and Coordinators, were introduced to DDB’s Integrated Drug Monitoring and Reporting Information System (IDMRIS), a web-enabled system that can collect, manage and analyze data and information on drug abuse prevention. Mr. Deanne Andes from DDB led the hands-on training of the web-enabled system.

The training was followed by separate lectures from DILG Rizal’s LGOO VI Cherribin C. Panganiban and DILG RIVA ADAC Technical Staff. They efficiently explained the roles and functions of stakeholders in local ADACs as well as the functionality of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADACs).

The activity wrapped up with equally edifying discussions from invited experts from RADAO and PDEA Region IV-A. They ended the program with useful insights on drug prevention and rehabilitation and on PDEA’s Barangay Drug Clearing Operations.
