Southwest Monsoon to bring rains over most of PHL

Southern Luzon including parts Visayas and Mindanao will experience light to moderate rains due to Southwest Monsoon, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

In its 4:00 pm bulletin Tuesday, Sept. 19, PAGASA said that cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms will prevail over Mindanao, parts of Visayas, MIMAROPA and the Province of Masbate

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers.

Moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the southwest to southeast will prevail over Northen and Central parts of Luzon. Light to moderate winds coming from the southwest will prevail over Southern Luzon and the rest of the archipelago with slight to moderate seas.

Locally known as “Habagat”, Southwest Monsoon occurs when warm moist air flows over the country from the southwest direction. It is characterized by heavy rainfall that may last for a week. —R4A/DOST-PAGASA
